Pucker Up

Dark Lip 3

My favorite cosmetic is lipstick.  Lip gloss, lip liner, anything that adds color or shine to my lips is my most frequent purchase.  Whether you’re a novice or a pro, I think lip color is the easiest to apply and probably the most fun.   The thing is, to get optimal results we have to resist the temptation to apply to our lips, look in the rearview mirror,  press our lips together and go mmwaahh. That is not the way to do it.  Y’all know that. Sephora offers a few tips on how to get that perfect pucker, for the dark lip and the perfect pout.

1.  Always remove dry, flaky skin with a lip exfoliator or a conditioning balm will do just fine.  Pat with primer.

2. Outline your mouth with a neutral lip linter in a shade closest to your natural lip color and blend with a brush.  If you would like to wear a dark dramatic shade as pictured above, use a deep lip liner (in a shade closest to your lipstick color), still you want to blend that line with a brush.

3. Apply your lipstick and blend with a brush for a lasting finish.

4. Trace the outer edge of your lips with a reverse lip liner to keep color in place.  For the glossy look pictured above, dab gloss at the center for shine.

Don’t ask me why, but as I was writing this post, Kiss by Prince was playing in my head.  Was that the song or what?

Enjoy your day ladies.
