Black Girls Rock 2010 – Four Women

Black Girls Rock is a non-profit program that seeks to empower young women through music.  Founder, Beverly Bond, began the program as a response to the negative and narrow portrayals of women in the media.  What began as a t-shirt slogan and campaign has culminated into a movement.  Last night BET aired the Black Girls Rock awards which celebrated the accomplishments of girls and women who rock.

Hosted by Nia Long, the show was not only unprecedented, it was absolutely phenomenal.  The finale was amazing.  Marsha Ambrosius, Kelly Price, Jill Scott (I’m loving the new hairstyle) and Ledisi joined the stage for a stirring cover of Nina Simone’s Four Women. My name is PEACHES!!! Enjoy.
