Style & Order: Jewelry

Dress Figure (Jewelry Holder)

I am on a mission!  While most folks spent New Year’s Eve celebrating or in quiet reflection, I spent mine with a shredder.  I decided that 2011 would be my year to go clutter-free.  That said, I tackled a bag of clutter that had been threatening my peace of mind since the fall-and I won!

Since I tend to be a clutter bug (especially for beauty products) I knew that going clutter-free and getting organized would be a process and not a one-day cleaning spree.  So wasn’t I delighted when I visited one of my favorite blog spots, Mustard Seed Collective, to see that Adrienne had found a solution to keeping earrings organized!  I was so excited, I braved the slushy streets to try to find one, but without success.

But being the trooper I am, that didn’t stop me from shopping.  Thank goodness, because I found two other discoveries that are going to keep me organized and clear the clutter.

First up: Skinny Hangers ($12.99).  I found these at Home Goods.  Just last week organization expert, Peter Walsh, featured these on The Oprah Show.  These hangers are so thin that they take a small fraction of the space of wooden or plastic hangers (I know none of you use wire hangers so we won’t go there).  Now here’s the best part: they are felt so nothing slips, and they come in a variety of colors (red, pink, green, brown, tan, etc).  You can coordinate them with the design of your room!

Second, is this wire dress figure ($19, above) I found at Pier 1.  This allows you to hang and display necklaces. rings (or earrings) without tangles or taking up a lot of space.  Not to mention, it’s really cute.  I love it.  Now I just need more jewelry.

Getting organized is going to be more fun than I thought!
