Diana Ross, Lancome Waterfproof Mascara, Central Park, NYC '83

Diana Ross is as much a legend for her glamour and style as she is for her career in music.  As  a member of The Supremes and as a solo artist she has always been a muse for her fashion and beauty.  A master performer, Ross’ 1983 concert in Central Park, will forever go down in music and concert history.  Torrential rain threatened to shut down the event, but Ms. Ross, the boss, defied the weather and continued to perform-sequined jumpsuit, big hair, full makeup and all.It was major!  It was the talk of grown folk’s conversation, breakfast tables and water coolers.  Diana Ross was a rainy day diva–literally!

Just recently Oprah Winfrey, shared the behind-the-scenes footage from her most recent interview with Ms. Ross. Winfrey revealed that not only did she admire and look up to Ross as a child, but after the famed Central Park concert, she actually called to find out what mascara Ms. Ross wore when she performed in Central Park in 1983.

The answer: Lancome Waterproof Mascara.  I am not surprised.  When it comes to Mascara, Lancome ranks in my top two (and the list ends there).  A lot of sisters sleep on Lancome.  But I can vouch for them.  Here’s a few Lancome products that I won’t do without.

Your brows are the frame of your face. After years of using a powder and brush, I made the switch to Lancome’s Brow Powder Crayon (Brunette), and I haven’t looked back.  It gives you the control of a pencil, without the waxy look.  It’s soft and natural looking.

When it comes to mascara, Lancome’s Hypnose Drama is an all-time favorite.  It’s builds without clumping and it adds dimension and volume toyour lashes.

When it’s all said and done, I remove my eye-makeup with Bi-Facil.  No other makeup remover works as well at removing eye-makeup.  You don’t have to rub repetitiously.  The rain won’t take off your waterproof mascara, but this will.  It gets the job done!

Until next time, Ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no storm big enough to keep us from beau-ty!

What products can’t you live without?  Do you have a favorite Diana Ross song/moment?

Miss Ross was THE MOST fabulous one that day, wasn’t she?

My favorite Ross moment doesn’t include me as much as my very best friend, a Ross fanatic. We where both still living at home in Chicago when she was filming Mahogany with Billy Dee. In the beginning of the movie there’s a scene where she works in a dept. store. Marshall Field’s. I worked there years later as an art director but my friend worked there during the filming and she just about lost her mind at the idea of breathing the same air as Miss Ross. We laughed remembering that while watching her on Oprah (we both live in Atlanta now). Also, how we combed the halls of the Drake hotel looking for Billy Dee. Somehow we found out that he was staying there during the filming. We were maybe 18 years old. Starry-eyed goofballs. But it makes for fun memories. Thanks for letting me share.

@ Edwina, I wish I had a Diana Ross moment. I’m so sorry I missed seeing her in NY last year. I’m hoping she has some dates on the east coast this year.

I’ve never seen her live either. Oh well…

I’m actually a Clinique girl. Been using their products, especially the 3-step soap/toner/moisturizer routine for about 30 years now.
