Vote For My Idea On Pepsi Refresh Project

I have some exciting news!  Every month Pepsi gives away thousands of dollars in grants to people who have ideas to improve the arts, community or education. The concept is to take the ideas of every day people, like me, and help get their projects going by providing them with funding.  If the idea is accepted, then it’s placed on Pepsi’s Refresh Everything site.  The ideas that get the most votes become finalists and are then eligible to receive grants.

Yesterday I received news that my idea of  Teach Teens 2 Dress was accepted! I am so happy.  The next step is to get votes for my idea-lots and lots of votes.  So let me tell you a bit more about it.

Teach Teens 2 Dress is about helping deserving teens and pre-teens start the school year with a positive self-image by providing them with school clothes and teaching them about dress and grooming. I call this the Fashion Ed Scholarship.  Fashion Ed is a play on words, like Physical Ed.,  (but Teach Teens 2 Dress, summed up the idea a lot easier).

Why Teach Teens To Dress? I started working during my freshman year of high school at the age of 14 just so that I could afford my school clothes. When you can leave your home feeling confident and happy about what you’re wearing, it makes learning and participation that much easier.  As adults, women spend so much time trying to learn or master how to dress for their body type.  How many makeover shows have we seen?  I think students should have a resource for learning dress and grooming for their body types as soon as image becomes important to them.  You can see more details of Teach Teens 2 Dress here.

How Can You Help? Please, visit Pepsi’s Refresh Everything website and vote.  You can vote up to 5 time a day between now and midnight (ET) December 31, 2011. I appreciate your support. Thanks!!!
