A New Foundation!

Laura Mercier's Creme Smooth Foundation
Laura Mercier's Creme Smooth Foundation

So a month after returning from my Costa Rica getaway and I still have a lingering tan.  Which means I needed to get my summer foundation in order fast. Fortunately, I had been experimenting with some brands I’d never tried before and I was pleasantly surprised by the range of foundation hues and texture.  So if you’ve been looking for a new foundation and are considering a prestige brand, here’s a few you should consider.  Tried and tested, Rainy Day Diva approved!

Chanel's Perfection Lumiere

I must admit I was impressed with Chanel‘s hue expansion.  It wasn’t that long ago that I asked if they had shades for someone my complexion and they kindly pointed me to Fashion Fair.  Having said that, their Perfection Lumiere worked for me.  The color match is perfect.  The formula goes on sheer, but it holds up throughout the day.  It gave me lasting coverage, so it deserves a thumbs up.

Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation

Voted a Best Beauty Buy by InStyle magazine for 2012, Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation is a great find.  I didn’t even know Armani made foundation.  I don’t know how I missed that, but I’m glad I got with the program.  Turns out, they have an extensive range of  shades that go from cream to chocolate.  It’s a sheer formula.  The formula is light, but your skin looks flawless.  While technique is definitely required to achieve that, the foundation does it’s part.  My shade is the fortunate number 13!

Laura Mercier’s Creme Smooth Foundation (above).  This is my absolute go-to foundation.  I love the texture.  It’s almost like a pudding, so it goes on smooth and provides slightly less than full coverage.  But it feels so light and even without primer, it wears smooth all day long.

Rainy Day Diva Tip: Your complexion can change slightly from season to season.  Make sure to update your foundation to make sure you have the best shade match possible!
