Having coiffed the style that People magazine once described as the “most coveted style of the year” also known as “The Rihanna,” celebrity hair stylist Ursula Stephen is in high demand. In addition to styling Rihanna and models for national beauty campaigns, her other celebrity clients include singers Keyshia Cole and Michelle Williams. I had a chance to speak with Stephen at the Essence Music Festival to discuss what’s hot in hair care and how you can create your own signature style. … (Read More)
This is one of the most difficult post for me to write. My buddy, my friend, my puppy is gone. Ethan passed away last Friday. The last few weeks have been incredibly difficult. The years seemed to catch up with my once vibrant, healthy, playful friend all at once. I have been incredibly sad. What makes me smile is remembering the twelve years of good memories. Taking him on long walks, car rides, watching him give the UPS man the business, his canine curiosity, and his seemingly insatiable desire to stop and smell the flowers. Hydrangeas, daffodils, roses-it didn’t matter. If there were flowers, we had to stop so that he could sniff each one. He protected our home, was always good company, and a loyal friend that I will never forget. So today I remember the love, laughs and life of Ethan (2000-2012).

Fortunately, I had been experimenting with some brands I’d never tried before and I was pleasantly surprised by the range of foundation hues and texture. So if you’ve been looking for a new foundation and are considering a prestige brand, here’s a few you should consider. Tried and tested, Rainy Day Diva approved!

Maybe you wanted to change the way you eat, but you were afraid of how your family would react to your vegetarian lifestyle. … (Read More)
I wish I had an Afro that big. A real one! There’s something about big, fabulous hair that breathes life into your alter ego. On The Talk, the ladies donned Afros. And a few alter egos did emerge if only for a brief moment.
Last week was so much fun. After posting the interview with the costume designer for the show Scandal, I had a lot of laughs with other Scandal fans. It turns out there are gladiators everywhere. And all different kinds at that.
If you haven’t solidified your plans for the holiday weekend and you’ll be in the NYC area, I recommend you take in a Broadway play. A Streetcar Named Desire is currently on Broadway with a stellar cast. Blair Underwood is the leading man, a refreshing spin on the character of Stanley. The cast also includes Nicole Ari Parker as Blanche, Daphne Rubin-Vega as Stella, and Wood Harris as friend and potential love interest, Mitch.
