Nothing beats an inviting atmosphere, a beautiful table, the aroma of a scrumptious meal and a sweet libation. That is why I was so excited to see G. Garvin’s new book, Dining In. I wasn’t anticipating it, I just happened to notice it in my local bookstore a while back. I have all of his books, but this is one of the best as he takes the mystery out of choosing the right wines and other things that can be daunting for the bravest of self-proclaimed chefs. Be sure to check this one out. His foreword to his daughter will melt your heart.
I just recently finished Cooked, the New York Times best-selling autobiography of Jeff Henderson. You may remember his show the Chef Jeff Project on the Food Network. Hopefully, there will be a season two if you missed it. Cheff Jeff takes at-risk youth and teaches them culinary skills. I didn’t miss an episode. If you don’t know about Cheff Jeff, he spent most of his youth as a drug dealer and it was in prison that he discovered and nurtured his culinary talents. His autobiography is a must as is his new cook book, Chef Jeff Cooks. I first became familiar with his story when he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show.
And last but definitely not least, have you ever heard that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? Well, it’s been a matter of debate for many years, but the Get ‘Em Girls, don’t doubt it for a minute. Check out the Get ‘Em Girls Guide to The Power of Cuisine. This has evolved from a cook book to a lifestyle. I love it!!
