In case you haven’t heard, Disney is releasing its first movie feature with an African American princess. The Frog and the Princess will be released during the Holiday season. The Princess will be voiced by the talented stage and film actress, Anika Noni Rose, who is currently starring alongside Jill Scott in The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency on HBO. The film is set in the 1920’s in New Orleans. Already there is mounting controversy over everything from the villians to skin color issues-whew! I’ll wait until it actually hits theatres. There was similar controversy with Aladdin, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Other famous voices that round out the cast include Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lewis, and Terrence Howard.
