Celebrated makeup artist Bobbi Brown, made an appearance on the Today Show this past Tuesday. In her segment, Bobbi shared quite a few tips, how-to’s and techniques for viewers who were covering age spots, preparing for weddings, as well as those who hoped that makeup would be the catalyst to re-gaining their self-confidence. However, it was Bobbi’s response to a side question from the interviewer that had me glued.
When discussing how to hide under eye dark circles, the question was asked how to avoid your under eye being too bright. I am so glad this was asked. Like the interviewer, I too have seen people, even celebrities, made up by professional makeup artist, who have the reverse raccoon look. Their under eye is so bright and so much lighter than their foundation that it is distracting. Bobbi’s says that the foundation or corrector that you use to cover under eye circles should be only one shade lighter than your foundation.
I can understand that if you have really dark circles it might be tempting to try going up a couple of shades, but trust me the opposite raccoon look has never been in. So just go one shade lighter. It’s that simple. I wonder if there is something you can do (other than stay well-rested) to reduce the dark under eye circles. Estheticians, makeup artist, or product fans, if you have suggestions or a remedy, please chime in.
