The weather is warming and a style change is one of the things I look forward to. And style is not just about what is hanging in your closet. Wearing bright, bold makeup is a fun way to experiment with color and freshen your look. Don’t be afraid to add some color to your cheeks. Blush is for everyone. After we add foundation and even out our complexion, blush brings back color and contrast for a finished look. Contrary to what you may have heard, bright colors go well with deeper skin tones. Just take a look at the picture above. It doesn’t get any more fabulous than that.
Pairing a bright blush with a stained lip, as shown above, is a beautiful look. The key to wearing blush is the same as with any other makeup-technique. Don’t let someone else’s lack of application inhibit you from trying something new. Once you’ve dipped your brush in, tap it lightly to remove excess color. Use light strokes and remember to blend. Otherwise, you’re treading into the theatrical and clownish territory. Retreat! There should not be a harsh line or circle where your blush begins or ends. The goal is to have a soft hint of color. Some of the colors I’m excited about this season are Exhibit A (NARS) and Taj Mahal (NARS) and Apricot by Bobbi Brown. So what color will you be wearing?
