So I’ve been asked to provide updates on some of my musical experiences this year. This was one of my favorites. I love a live performance. While large venues are nice, it’s always a treat to catch one of your favorite artist in an intimate setting where they can really connect with the audience. That’s just what happened at the Highline Ballroom when El DeBarge performed.
He covered the old and the new-and hit every note I might add. A real bonus was when he called Doug E. Fresh onto the stage for a collaboration. This is truly Hip Hop and R&B. When I see this video, I’m amazed that record execs still don’t get that grown folks love and will buy real music. Besides, today’s grown folks are not like those of previous generations. We introduced hip hop, rap, and go-go and still kept R&B going. Seriously, I’m hoping the winds of change keep bringing us good music in 2011 and beyond. Enjoy!
