February’s flurry of fashion hit a high note with Couture Fashion Week at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. While most designers who showcased their fall collections for 2011 were reminiscent of decades past; Sisa (aka Simone Rodrigues) says the muse for her fall collection, Sisa Designs, was nature. If the words “luxury” and “nature” seem oddly paired, let me reassure you, Sisa makes it work.
A mixture of Brazilian chic and urban sophistication, Sisa’s collection is a bevy of couture gowns each with accents that make going natural seem decadent. A strapless gown is accentuated with features in rust and gold, while a plunging neckline meets a floral pattern of gold lace. The traditional black velvet gown is embroidered with floral embellishments on a grey skirt.
What I love about this collection is Sisa’s use of texture. She mixes feathers, gemstones, velvet and lace effortlessly to create pieces that are adventurously feminine, bold and undeniably gorgeous. On the runway, the hair was gathered at the crown into a loose bun and secured with feathers (ec0-friendly, of course) that complimented the designs.
The great thing is that Sisa makes couture accessible. Visit her FaceBook page to learn more about her boutique or schedule an appointment. To see more of Sisa’s collection, click below.
