I had to pause when I came across this utility-inspired layout in the September issue of Vogue. Model, Jourdan Dunn is wearing (and layering) everything from fleece to rubber and is looking cute and comfy doing it. Sometimes keeping your style cute while being “comfortable” can be a challenge.
When it comes to running errands, relaxed weekend wear, and even travel, it can be quite tempting to throw style and fashion sense to the the way-side. You know some of us try to convince ourselves that the yoga pants don’t really look that bad, the sweater isn’t fuzzy and yes, those folks on the red-eye flight that think we don’t notice those are pajamas. We see you!
Check out these relaxed style alternatives!
What I like about these looks is that almost every one is paired with a hat . Then I love that the makeup is pretty, soft, and the nude lip actually works. Personally, I’d add a dark lip MAC’s Nightmoth pencil or Revlon’s Wine With Everything. You can still show off your manicure with the fingerless gloves shown above. Try a spiced nail polishes like Very Structured or Carry On from Essie’s fall collection or for a little sparkle a magenta like Jamaica Me Crazy.
Vest over sweater is a nice look for days when it’s not quite cool enough for a coat or jacket, but you need that bit of added warmth-or style!
Save the vest for last! Layering has always been key for cool weather, but this season we’re doing it in reverse. Below, Dunn wears a Donna Karan reversible shearling vest over a Cashmere coat.
Chunky heels rock! The pleated dior skirt is beautiful alone, but can be paired with leggings or tights.
Finally! Fleece done right. Chloe sweatshirt with leather and gold detailing, is a definite way to dress-up when you’re dressing down.
