Miss Jessie’s Sudsy Shampoo, Curly Product Review

Miss Jessie's Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo

Miss Jessie's Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally tried Miss Jessie’s hair styling products. I’ve put it off for quite some time because, for one, I’ve been really enjoying so many natural hair products over the past year. Then there’s the fact that I’ve heard so much buzz about Miss Jessie’s and it wasn’t all positive.

In fact, aside from the beautiful ads that I saw for the product, I heard more cautionary tales: It’s overpriced, they use cheap ingredients, it dried my hair out, and did I mention it’s overpriced? Then there’s the fact that some of their products alter your hair chemically. All the noise had me feeling that I wasn’t supposed to like this product.

Well, two weeks ago I decided to try the Sudsy Cleanser (8 oz. $14), The Super Sweetback Treatment, and the Curly Meringue. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. First of all the products smell wonderful and while that’s always a plus, it was the style results that had me most pleased. First of all just let me say that I am the tangle queen and after The Super Sweetback Treatment ($9-$48), my detangle time was greatly reduced.

The Curly Meringue ($7-$38) left my hair soft, shiny and lots of bouncy curls. At first I was concerned because the product was thicker and heavier than what I’m used to, so I thought my hair would be weighed down. But I actually had lots of body and shine.

The following week, I tried the Curly Pudding ($7-$38). I liked the curls better because they were fuller and it came closer to giving me the volume that I’ve been trying to achieve. The only drawback was that some of the sheen was sacrificed a bit, so I had to add moisture, which I didn’t feel necessary with the Curly Meringue.

So the verdict is:

  • Yes, I liked the product and it worked for me.
  • Is it expensive? Depends on your budget and how you look at it.  For me, it’s still cheaper than what I would pay when I was going to a salon every two weeks.  So that’s how I look at it.
  • Will I forsake all other styling products?  Absolutely not.  Miss Jessie’s has earned a place on my shelf, but I still have other products that I love using and those I’ve yet to try!
  • I love that it was easy to work with,  it gave me a slightly different look, and it had a wonderful scent.

Here’s to trying something new!  Have you tried Miss Jessie’s products?  What did you think?
