This past weekend I caught the remake of the ’70’s classic, Sparkle. This movie touches on so many of the issues that we face in relationships with our family, lovers and ourselves. But most notably, it’s the youngest sister, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks), that has trouble living up to her name.
Though talented, she’s afraid of her voice and power. Ambivalent about her musical gifts, she finds herself stuck-caught between that small cushion of space called a rock and a hard place. It’s only when life’s circumstances force her, that she finally lives up to her name.
In real life, an external push may not come in the nick of time. I challenge all of you today, to allow that spark inside of you, that desire to live your dream, change your life, to see, experience and be more, to ignite your passion and consume your fears. Set out in a new direction. It’s your time to shine. Go ahead, Sparkle!
