I was giddy with excitement when I heard about this. In fact, I couldn’t help but let out a villainous laugh of my own. MAC has teamed up with Disney (love them both) to create the Venomous Villains collection due in September, just in time for Fall Fashion. This makeup collection is inspired by the infamous villains from the big screen. There’s The Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping beauty, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmations and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and The Frog.
When I first saw the Evil Queen from Snow White as a child, I wasn’t so sure she was evil. How could anyone with brows like that be all bad? She was definitely one of my first makeup memories. The collection will boast a range of 40 hues. So what made these two team up? Johanna Mooney, Disney’s beauty director explains, “women look for fantasy and transformation.” I’d have to agree that both companies are in that business. I cannot wait for this collection. I am surprised to see Dr. Facilier included among them. Not that he wasn’t evil enough, it’s just that he’s a newer character. I’m surprised that they didn’t include Ursula from The Little Mermaid or the Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland, Johnny Depp’s version of course.
I sure hope they do this again with an expanded collection or a different theme. Until then, here’s a teaser…Venomous Villains, September 2010.
