This past weekend I was invited to one of those “bring a dish” get-togethers, and as usual, I opted for a dessert. But I really didn’t want to do Grandma’s pound cake (delicious as it is). So I decided to be a bit more daring and make my mothers famous apple pound cake. Now, I tried my hand at this cake a long, long, time ago and it wasn’t quite the way mom made it. So I was a bit nervous. But this time I did something right. I don’t think my mom could have told the difference between hers and mine in a blind-folded taste test. This recipe has been in my family since I was in pony tails, so I won’t disclose the ingredients here. Suffice it to say, it was a hit. This is the kind of cake that is good with a scoop of ice cream after dinner, or with a cup of coffee at breakfast. Now someone did comment that it looks like a home made cake. Well, that’s cause it is. What did you make this weekend?
