Fragrance Party Highlights

Balenciaga Black Body Scrub

This past weekend was the highly anticipated home fragrance party.  The fragrance department of Bloomingdale’s introduced me and guests to the new scents for spring.  The evening started with a few games.  Stephanie, of Bloomingdale’s, had us bopping to music and guessing fragrance notes with the hopes of winning prizes- and win we did!  Let’s just say that Prada and Cashmere Mist by Donna Karen is a great way to get a party started. Swag pics and highlights to follow…

After the games, we had a chance to learn the notes of the new fragrances for the season.  Daisy by Marc Jacobs, David Yurman’s Essence fragrances in Delicate, Fresh and Exotic, Annick Goutal, Balenciaga Paris, Chanel for Men, and Kenzo were just a few of the fragrances we experienced.

Then we had Q& A.  I wasn’t sure what the reference to middle and last notes meant. Pardon moi. In the world of fragrance, the notes are the various scents that make up the fragrance.  The top notes are what you smell immediately after you put on the fragrance.  The middle notes are what you smell after a few minutes.  The last notes are the lingering scents that you smell as you wear the fragrance throughout the day.
Another interesting point relates to storage.  Perfume should not be kept in the bathroom.  The fluctuation in temperature changes the fragrance.  Instead, store fragrances in a cool, dry place.
One of the highlights of the evening was trying Balenciaga’s Black Body Scrub (above).  This was luxury.  Not only did it leave us with smooth, soft skin, but it smells like the fragrance, Balenciaga Paris- which was one of our favorite scents that evening.
My top picks were: Daisy Eau So Fresh and Cranberry Splash by Marc Jacobs, Fresh by David Yurman, and Le Mimosa by Annick Goutal.

After the games, the swag, and the education, it was time to dig in.  I deliberately planned a light menu so that the aroma of the food would not interfere with the fragrances.  I hope everyone liked it!

I think I’m going to frame this bag!  Impromptu art…I like it!
