Beautiful. Confident. Elegant. Just a few words that came to mind when I first saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.  While it was an amazingly told love story, I couldn’t help but fall for the minimalistic, relaxed beauty that danced across the screen.  Barely there makeup in nude and pink with a hint of gold.

As spring unfolds and colors of rose, pink and metal are crossing our lips and dusting our cheeks once again, I wanted to showcase some looks that have the international flair and elegant style from the ground breaking film.

Lipstick: You can never go wrong with nudes or metal.  They add a bit of sophistication without the temptation to be excessive with color.  For the look above, Cover lips with foundation to create an even canvas.  Then follow with a nude shade like High Tea  or a metal like Coconutty by MAC.  To add just a little color try layering with a pale pink gloss.

Eyes: You can stick with earthy shades of brown or sand for eyes or turn up the drama with a jade green shadow for a pop of color.

Nails: Try nail colors that bring out that play up your inner warrior in dark shades like Essie’s Wicked.  Or for a demure look opt for pastel shades in blue, green or pink.

Hair:  A chignon is the chameleon elegance.  Wear it pulled tight for sleek sophistication or loose and tousled for relaxed glamour.  As always, a loose free flowing pony tail never goes out of style.
