Fun Friday: Kingda Ka

I recently visited Six Flags Great Adventure for the first time.  It’s been a while since I’ve been on a roller coaster, but I love them and couldn’t wait to ride.  After long waits for Superman and Green Lantern, my group decided to head on over to Kingda Ka.  The name sounded like a kiddy ride to me, but supposedly it is the fastest and tallest roller coaster.  Okay, sounded like a challenge and I was  more than ready. The best part is that compared to the other rides the line wasn’t long.

Finally, I was secured in the third seat from the front.  Let me just say Kingda Ka does not play around. There was no “clink, clink” and slow anticipation-it took off like a rocket.  After the deepest drop (with a twist, I might add) at a ridiculously fast speed, we came to a stop.  As we were unbuckling our seats and laughing, I noticed something different about the person next to me. I couldn’t help but ask.

“What happened to your hair?”

“My hair?”

“Yeah, your hair,” I pointed, with a look of concern.  She reached up to the top of her head where one bobbie pin held on for dear life.  We could not keep it together at that point.

Her hair was gone.  Yes, her pony tail flew off! Claimed by Kingda Ka. I know it probably smacked someone in the face and they are traumatized, thinking it was a bird.

So the next time you ride a roller coaster and they tell you to secure all items-they mean it!
